Spitting Image by Liz Conway
feat. Three Winds of Nickel
I owe many thanks to Liz for letting me compose the music for her piece. It was a standout moment for me while I was in school, and led to me finding satisfaction in the instrumentation I've come to work with. Another example of what an opportunity can do.

About
• Guitars, Keys, Common Surface Reflections, the first full length album from Lukas Mathias Brenner, is a conglomerate of refracted thoughts and emotions, spilling from palms and breaking over chords. Drawing inspiration from what our average day has to offer, and falling somewhere between neoclassical and post-rock.
Working within the confines of a modern quartet, you’ll only hear an electric, acoustic, and bass guitar, plus a single synthesizer. This ensemble feels like a proper limit; only being able to use instruments that are at an arm’s reach, and not getting lost in the myriad of options that digital-audio has to offer.
This ensemble first took shape in 2013 as a trio, while writing the music for the dance piece ’Spitting Image,' by Liz Conway. Out of this came 'Three Winds of Nickel,' showcasing just the guitars, with its title coming from their nickel-wound strings. The quartet was formed after the ever-favorite OP-1 was acquired and given a role.
